NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 2015-- 2K and Firaxis Games today announced that the XCOM® 2 Digital Deluxe Edition is now available for pre-purchase for $74.99. Launching globally on February 5, 2016 for Windows PC and coming to Mac and Linux via Feral Interactive, the XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe Edition includes the sequel to the Game of the Year* award-winning strategy title XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the XCOM 2 Reinforcement Pack** and the digital soundtrack. XCOM 2 takes place 20 years into the future, where humanity has surrendered to the alien threat and XCOM is largely forgotten, forcing them to reclaim Earth and free mankind from the aliens’ rule.

The Reinforcement Pack** can be purchased separately for $19.99 and bundles three downloadable add-on packs. Each add-on pack will offer a unique twist to the core game experience by adding new missions, aliens, weapons, more extreme soldier customizations and other items.

The Reinforcement Pack** includes the following:

  • Anarchy’s Children: featuring rebellion-themed content with more dramatic soldier customizations (releasing spring 2016);
  • Alien Hunters: introducing new gameplay surrounding XCOM as an elite alien hunting unit tracking down “Ruler” aliens, along with a new mission, soldier customization options and more powerful weapons and armor (releasing summer 2016);
  • Shen’s Last Gift: offering a brand new soldier class with unique upgradeable weapons, armor and customization features, as well as an additional narrative-driven mission and map (releasing summer 2016).

Players who pre-order or pre-purchase XCOM 2 or the XCOM 2 Digital Deluxe Edition will also receive the Resistance Warrior Pack, offering additional soldier customization options such as bonus outfits, headgear, and custom facial war paint. The Resistance Warrior Pack also includes a “Survivor of the Old War,” a new XCOM recruit who will appear in the Avenger’s barracks.

That set of DLC seems really scummy imo.

I much preferred when X-Com was an alien invasion simulator, the remake was very underwhelming once you get past the updated visuals.

Do we know if base invasions are back, I'm guessing no since your guerrillas right?

They're locking a soldier class behind dlc as part of a 20 dollar day 1 bundle? Really?

Ouch

Well the Avenger could be invaded right?

Goddamnit, this is like the one game where they can get me with this stuff.

It's also pretty much the only game where I care about dress-up items.

Wonder if Shen's last gift = mech troopers? Either way, not a fan of locking a soldier class behind DLC, but it is pretty far down the line.

Anarchy's children sounds like a weak excuse to try and get additional 'value' out of the season pass, though.

Just realized they went for the ant farm load out again, that pretty much kills any hope for base invasion again :( .

At least one of the previews mentioned having the mobile command center being invaded as a possibility, since the Aliens are 'playing' at the same time you as the player are. Plus, there's a precedent with Enemy within.

Sounds like a pretty typical season pass to me.

Given how great the prequel was I'm willing to bet the expansion content will be dope (well, the second two packs at least). I'd wait and pick them up later, though.

Oh well there's always X-Com 3 - Terror from the Deep ;)

It seems like it will be there, hard to say. If nothing else the game is supposed to have much better mod support so I'm sure someone will get it done.

It's kind of odd to see this sort of season pass money grab when the game is intended to be so modder-friendly. What's to stop the community from creating mods that are basically equivalent to the DLC, in mechanics if not copyrighted assets?

I might actually get the digital deluxe edition down the line if only because 2K never properly discounted Enemy Within. I don't think it's ever been below $7.50 compared to the $10 or whatever Complete Edition.

Given then name of the content, it's probably a cyborg/MEC class. The original MEC was locked behind DLC (Enemy Within).

A bit confused by the wording, though. "Releasing Summer 2015" seems to imply this is mostly just a pack-in of a "Season Pass" and not Day 1 DLC?

I'll bet every bit of this will be included in the eventual console versions plus more. I know it's PC only right now but no way they pass up the console audience they built last gen.

Season pass rolled into pre-order. Pretty much par for the course.

Nice to see the game will get frequent updates. Assuming it's as good as the first game, I'll look for any excuse to start another game. 1st pack seems meh, 2nd pack sounds maybe a little interesting, 3rd pack with a new class will be my jam though.

Well, I'd challenge the premise that it's a money grab. Without knowing the details of the soldier class, it could be entirely worthwhile.
