Hate-watching is a neologism for watching a television show while simultaneously hating its content or subject.

Castle. I think this show is incredibly average. I just finished season 4 and I put it on cos it makes great background noise but as a show I think it's incredibly average. I quit Transparent after 7 half hour episodes yet I have finished 4 seasons of this crap and I don't know why.I think I have started so I wanna finish.

I sometimes hatewatch anime shows. Just pick a random anime from the popular list on Crunchyroll, it's bound to be awful. Recently I hatewatched the Netflix original anime, Seven Deadly Sins.

I don't know why.

I wouldn't call it hating the whole series, but I hate a lot of things in Arrow. This show got a lot of crap going on where I just grab my head and throw it out of the window. But I do hate read Bleach if that counts for something. I enjoy reading the shitty mess Kubo is making for all the wrong reasons.

I just hate-read your post. Three times >:I
I am joking of course, you're free to hate what you like.

It might be slightly different but I watched The League up until this current season. Started (and kept) watching it because there's some genuinely talented people who work on the show, but holy shit is it terrible.

Arrow, cos I can't admit to myself that it's nowhere near as good as it used to be.

None at the moment, I've gotten better at dropping shows. But season 3 of House of Cards and season 2 of True Dick were so abysmal they ended up being a hatewatch.

I did recently watch the pilot and half of the second episode of Gotham. Not sure it counts as hatewatching though, I just really hated what I watched.

I don't hate all anime. Used to be a big fan of One Piece. Death Note, Monster, Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill are all great.

But something like Seven Deadly Sins almost feels like it was randomly generated, the plot put together by anime manatees like in that South Park episode.

I tend to watch Charmed early in the mornings sometimes. Whether out of some kind of masochistic compulsion or something, I don't know.

I know it's littered with common tropes, some even archaic, but I had a blast watching it, because the series wasn't pretentious about it and just shrugged everything off. Similar to why I enjoy Fairy Tail. It works because they don't really try to explain it further than "it's magic". It's simple fun.

Of course not everybody likes such things, I understand that.

Akame Ga Kill

It's anime trash, but toonami-gaf makes it amusing.

Best portrayal of a gay character ever, though. Seriously, they deserve an award for that.

Anime and manga. Pick one at random and see how long you can torture yourself for.

One of those days I'm going to hear/see "what's the matter onii-chan? Don't you remember the promise we made on that day 10 years ago?" for the last time and snap. My neighbors are completely unaware the day of reckoning approaches. There will be no survivors.

I hate watched Under the Dome till the bitter end.

With Unce Upon a Time I don't know if I am hate watching or if it is a guilty pleasure.

Lol none. Not need to watch something I don't enjoy.

Sounds like watching something so you join the conversation.

Anything by Shonda Rhimes. Her shows start off good and then fall off the deep-end. How to Get Away With Murder isn't as bad though.

Between kids and work, I don't have enough time to watch shows that I love. I can only dream about having the opportunity to purposely watch a show I hate.

Before the kids came along, my wife and I watched The Following. It went downhill pretty quickly and near the end we were thinking 'Christ, we've still got a few more episodes of this to get through'. Once you start something you kind of want to see it through to the end.

Alternatively I have no problems ditching a game half way through if I'm not enjoying it.

None, why would I waste time doing this.
Came in here to say this...

Time = valuable resource

Time involuntarily spent doing things you hate = unavoidable

Time spent doing things you like = harder to experience, must seek out voluntarily

Time voluntarily spent on things you don't like = insanity

Daredevil. I can acknowledge that show is really well done. But it's content is so intense that I can only watch about one episode per week.

I watched 5 seasons of True Blood, because I thought the vampires, nudity and extreme violence meant I'd have to grow fond of the show eventually, but it never happened.
Most of the characters were boring, the relationship stuff went on and on and the werewolves were super lame.

Warehouse 13. I heard it's supposed to get better but I'm near the end of season 2 and I still pretty much hate it. Claudia's been the saving grace all this time but I don't know if I'll make it to season 3 despite liking her character.

Claudia becomes super annoying. You might as well quit while you still have a good impression of her.

For real though, I hate watched the entirety of Californication and 3 seasons of Girls. I blame all those lying pieces of shit who told me they're good shows. Glad I'm no longer about that hate watching life.

I was going to say I don't think I've ever done that with any TV shows, but thinking on it I have definitely done that with some anime. There's some anime that there's things about it I just hate, but I guess something or another keeps me watching since I continue watching... Maybe partially since anime is usually shorter than an average TV show so you can binge watch the whole series in less than a day usually if you want too (except those ridiculous animes that go on forever).

CSI Cyber is so much fun to hatewatch because of how awful it is. Also I hatewatch Scandal, but that's gotten so boring so I might just drop it all together.
