Arc System Works Want To Make A New Fighting Game

“We’ve been throwing some ideas around, but nothing is concrete for the moment,” responds Kidooka.

“We need to establish a new fighting game that follows Guilty Gear and BlazBlue,” says Kidooka when asked about what else is next.

Not sure what I think about this, I mean I love BB and GG but 3 active FG from them, seems a little excessive. I guess we can replace Persona with this new IP, if they finally made it.

Three active fighting games? Who says BlazBlue isn't wrapping up? It's not like they weren't managing BB, P4U and GG before, not to mention other stuff like their Dragon Ball game.

Yeah I'm pretty sure BB is coming to a end.

The current story arc is coming to an end but I doubt they will stop making BB games, they sell better than GG, I don't think they can afford to stop making them. Probably they will move some key people from the BB team to make another game or this new fighting game, Mori for example already said he wants to do other things.

Is there a legal reason that they cant combine Guilty Gear with Blazblue?
Maybe I havent dug deep enough into their series, but theyre similar enough to make it work.

With a new BB "arc" coming up?

Possibly, but Kidooka's response explicitly states that they're thinking about a fighting game to follow BlazBlue and Guilty Gear, which makes me think of a new IP that would, indeed, follow in their footsteps. It doesn't sound like something meant to coexist, and it's probably not much more than a mere thought at this point.

That seems more like the end of the BB storyline than a new arc. I mean, sure there'll be DLC and an Extend version of that. But after that it's probably the end for BB. If there's another one it'll likely be at least a big change-up with new characters or moving to 3D models like GG.

I'm also guessing Persona was more of a one-off thing.

Let me be the first to say I sure hope there is PC port sometime this decade.

Edit: Should just do Persona 5 Arena. You know it will sell.

One Piece, just leave it at the door please thanks in advance

I'd like to see a more toned down IP from them. Blazblue and GG are great from them but they are both very "anime" which puts a lot of people off. It'd be interesting to see their trademark ASW gameplay in a game with a more muted aesthetic, if only to serve as a starting point to get more people into playing ASW games.

I know I might get jumped on by my statement but I want them to create a non-anime looking fighting game. GG, Blazblue, and Persona looks anime-ish. Yes GG Xrd looks nice but you cannot argue that it looks a bit like an anime looking fighter. Aside from ASW, we have French Bread, sega and others who create these games and they aren't always crappy either. French Bread even has some fans who will tell praises of their games.

Something looking like Tekken or DOA please. I just want them to explore uncharted territory and succeed.

don't get it twisted, their main audience is Japan.

Random NeoGAF member wants Arc System Works to make a sequel to Hard Corps: Uprising.

But nah, I'll buy whatever they come up with, I love their story modes and watching high level play from their games.

That can't be their main audience forever though. Console sales in Japan are craptastic and arcade games are fairly successful, but really can't be compared to the amount of potential growth found in the western console and F2P PC market.

Maybe the gameplay alone will keep an ASW from being super popular in the west, but I'd like to see them try at least.

Man GGXrd is just batpoo insane, nearly everybody there makes Yoshimitsu look normal.

I don't know how they dial down from that level.

I'd love to see a sequel to that, but under Konami, I don't see it happening tbh.

The game in question would bomb harder than Battle Fantasia
People buy ASW for the flash and crazy factor.

Jokes on you, they don't need console sales. They have arcades!

They have no interest in a world wide appeal. Their dichotomy between arcade and consoles obviously show that. and their's no motivation for them to increase their appeal since arcades is where most of their profits come from.

Random NeoGAF member wants Arc System Works to make Streets of Rage 4.

They already made a good Brawler for GG on PSP.
