Just can't fathom how you could expect that. Souls fans are not going to miss out on bloodborne. So why would they not also get ds2 on the same ps4?

This image of poor souls fans that only have a xb1 is foolish IMO. The war of demographics for Japanese games is done for the generation.

Personally, the timing of DS2 was delicious. When I'm ready for it, there will likely be sales.

I'm surprised Bloodborne's still number one, you know with all the people returning it because it's too hard and the nasty reviewers didn't tell them!!

Numerically it's not going to be much as such. TBH though I think expecting cannibalization of DS2 remaster by BB on PS4 was wrong in this case.

Instead I believe BB probably drew majority of DS fans to PS4 vs XB1, hence whatever subset of the fanbase was going to be interested in DS2 was always going to be larger on PS4 giving it better sales than XB1.

Given we're talking a more niche/cult title that's a critical darling rather than cannibalize sales the lowish numbers and strong preference increases odds of BB purchasers on PS4 also deciding to double dip for DS2 vs XB1.

My take anyway.

As I said though actual numbers can't be too dispirate though as they must be low on both although percentage/ratio wise it probably looks much better for PS4.

Haha... glad to see it continue to do well. A rare UK chart topper that deserves it's success.

Xenoblade crashing out of the charts is a real bummer (It might not be a great port, but it's still a great game), but considering it was a JRPG port on a system with a miniscule install base it's a miracle it did as well as it did last week really.

Beyond the fact it just looks amusing for some reason I'm pretty sure it started with people posting if The Order was above Forza Horizon or vice versa for some reason - the weights indicating the constant swapping of positions. Well, bigger install base is not always the reason. Dark Souls sold better on PS3 despite X360's bigger install base.

Sorry I didn't mean hardware install base. I meant demographic install base in line with your point - i.e. the number of people owning a PS4 and interested in Souls type games is almost certainly higher than XB1 thanks to BB. And of course the fact there was a healthy install base on PS3 of Souls fans the likelihood they would transfer to PS4 - particularly with an exclusive like BB to tempt them - was always strong.

So what I was really trying to say is that the PS4 almost certainly has bigger percentage of people interested in DS2 remaster than XB1 and hence rather than BB cannibalizing sales of DS2 allowing XB1 version to perform better in fact the opposite happened and BB essentially helped generate a halo effect increasing chances for DS2 remaster on PS4 vs XB1,

In a good or bad way? I mean at this time of a year, sales differences between a couple of hundreds can easily mean chart differences with > 10 places. So I don't know what exactly the time of year means in this context - good for DC or good for TO? Or even worse for TO?

Good for DC in terms of time of year. Console sales ramp up close to Christmas by orders of magnitude greater than even most games.

We might see though. With Sony having a quiet end of year, this might end up being the holiday bundle even.

So Xenoblade 3D is the third best selling game in France. In UK, it was 27th at the same time and completely out of top 40 now.

Makes sense, France loves Nintendo. Still, I wouldn't expect a demake on a specific branch of a handheld to hang around any of the charts for very long.

Yup, especially for this time of year. I think it's going to end up one of the few games where it'll probably do better than a multi-platform release would have due to Sony getting behind them with bundles and marketing.
