Fushigi no Gensokyo - Tower of Revival is the first game to be release by the seal "Play Doujin" made by SCEJA and Mediascape that will bring Touhou Project games for the vita and PS4.

It is an exclusive sequel to Gensokyou 3 for the vita, made by the same circle "Aqua Style". Will be released on June 25 on PS Store. A limited physical edition will be avaliable only for preorders for 8000 yen.

This is a roguelike, like Azure Dreams, Shiren and Chocobo Dungeon.

This will be my first entry to the touhou world, but the custom themes on the JP store have a huge number of ratings, so it must be popular.

Any chance of this coming to the states now that DDC is coming? I want Touhou on my Vita :O

Wut ? I always thought Touhou was 'just' a series of indie Shmups. Interesting that the brand tries to do other things.

I hope Play Doujin can get some of the old Net Yaroze games back into circulation, like Terra Incognito or Super Mansion.

It doesn't, really.

The creator of Touhou Project, ZUN, creates SHUMPS and will occasionally help write a book or manga.

This is a doujin game, a fangame, that has been formally licensed and is being published on a console.

Sad that there's no real physical version. But still, great news.
And really, this is mainly a mystery dungeon game. Like, the title is basically Mystery Gensokyou 3, so think of those kinds of games.

It says that the limited edition is a cart version of the game, but the cart version will be really limited. Preorders will open next month.

With any luck, stores like amiami and toranoana will stock some copies.

~$75 to play some Touhou Mystery Dungeon if you don't have a Japanese PSN, then? I'm factoring in shipping costs to import. Wish localization was a possibility, but it's not meant to be I suppose...

You mean that the product code on the illustration card qualifies as a cart version?

JP doujin games are expensive, bro. At least this will come with an artbook, full soundtrack, exclusive custom theme, etc.

But I agree that they could make a regular edition as well.

Technically, Touhou is a series of Shmups as well as a few Fighting Games, as well as books and manga. ZUN, the creator, is just extremely lenient in regards to fan material.

It is a series of Shumps. The creater, ZUN, has turned his franchise into the Japanese equivalent of the lovecraft mythos. This is pure fanwork .

So, Fushigi no Gensokyou was released yesterday, and got more than 800 ratings on the first day on sale. Japanese foruns are saying that the game is amazing, as well.

Touhou games are a big deal.

IIRC Gensou No Rondo was #1 on PSN download for a while, so I bet this game'll get good results too since its genre would probably attract a wider audience.
Still, great to see the series get some success.
