Nintendo:E3 focus on 2015 games (aka RIP Wii u)

" Because we’d like to focus on developing the game, we aren’t planning on showing it at this year’s E3, where we will be highlighting games launching in 2015."

remember the infamous launch window? they were focused only on that at 2012 E3. and we know how that turned out. in January 13 and at last year E3 they gave a good wide look at a longer time period. now they are shrinking back the PR to a limited timeframe once again.
I see this as the last nail on Wii U coffin.

RIP Wii u.

RIP Wii U.
Only XCX, Mario Maker, Star Fox, Zelda, Kirby, Devil's Third, Splatoon and more to come.
But yeah, RIP Wii U.

"where we will be highlighting games launching in 2015"

What are those? Games releasing in Q3-Q4 that is. Going to be one hell of a dry E3.

I hope they have some new games in their pockets or else it'll be a damn short E3 for them.

I assume they have, though. Nintendo usually is good at keeping secrets.

Well...more than others.

Quoting myself from the other thread

How many times do I have to repeat this before people get it? It's a spokeperson who (99.9%) doesn't know ANYTHING about Nintendo's E3 plans, thus he/she can only reiterates what's known: Nintendo will surely highlight 2015 games at E3. But this is it: it doesn't mean at all we won't get 2016 games, this is just what we know/can imply so far about Nintendo at E3. Why is people giving so much importance to those words is mindblowing to me...never seen PR answers in your lives?

This thread shouldn't even exist: it's based on an almost pre-made PR response, they won't tell you what's in store for E3 before Nintendo itself officially announces it. Please, try to think.

Wasn't this pretty much expected based alone on today's sales and the remaining lineup? 2015 looked like a farewell year from the beginning with a few Nintendo first party titles that make the overall drought on the platform well bearable.

Can't get this picture working

I won't say Wii U had a good run as there's hardly a handful of games i ever was interested in the system for. But it was an interesting experiment.

Hopefully their next console is BC with the Wii U(not Wii) and actually has a normal control scheme for all games with a normal ass controller as standard. Then i'll pick one up

That being said, we won't know what they'll be showing till they actually provide an official list

I don't see this as a nail in a Wii U coffin

Well of course, the Wii U has been dead for some time now. Tis no secret.

For 2015 we have, what? Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Yoshi's Wooly World, Kirby (still not out here in the UK) and Star Fox. Hopefully a couple of surprises at E3, but that's better than previous year to me. I only bought 3 Wii U games in 2013. 4 in 2014 and theres 5 I want this year. Not bad.

You don't know what games they could announce at E3, so you assume they have no games to announce at E3? Seems fair.

Mine still plays games fine so it's a secret to me.

RIP Wii U.

But yeah, RIP Wii U.

Splatoon and Kirby will be out by the time E3 comes around. Nobody really cares about Devil's Third. XCX would be out in Japan by this point. Mario Maker isn't a full fledged game. Zelda isn't going to be at E3.

I've been saying Zelda U is likely the last major WiiU title. NX in 2017

Why are people so sure this NX is the successor to the Wii U? Unless you know something I haven't read yet, I was fairly sure NX was a platform for Nintendo's mobile endeavours...

How is this thread not closed yet?

Why should it be closed?

I agree with the OP. I see the delay of Zelda as a sign of Wii U finally being done with. I can't imagine new projects starting on Wii U. I think everything will go forward as NX titles starting with Zelda and FExSMT.

Nintendo always says this kind of thing for their directs and we still get games outside of the focused time frame so I wouldn't read too much into it.

I just noticed that you literally just took a link from the other thread and used it to start a new OP.

I'm new here. Is this shit... normal?

Because Wii U is a spectacular failure and Nintendo is scrambling to get a new console out? Better late than never I say. I feel they should have released NX in 2014.

Do you think Nintendo can support three platforms at once? They don't have third party support. At this point, the 3DS lineup for this year doesn't look too promising. Not sure why they focus on a dead console such as Wii U instead of producing games that sell.

So...

they will use the whole E3 to talk about 2015 games which means they wont talk about any new system = RIP WIIU

ok

DragonSworne going fully with every possible negative scenario. How I am not surprised by this.

The jumping to conclusion in this thread based on a PR-like response is irritating me: haven't we learned everything in all these years, gentlemen? Don't take that seriously anything that isn't coming directly from Iwata, Reggie (much less Reggie though) and their likes in each and every videogaming company in the earth. I still remember how MK7's bug wouldn't have been fixed at all.

Yeah there's this as well. A direct last year focusing on early 2015 games had Kirby in the EU direct despite it being a May game here.

I just noticed that you literally just took a link from the other thread and used it to start a new OP.

New thread for new news. Although people do jump the gun with thread making.

New thread for new news rule tho I'm not quite sure it works in this case.

Wait until E3 before casting doom...ok more doom lol.

You guys will feel better when we get a Nintendo Durrctvon Tuesday or Wednesday. There's a lot of evidence one is coming, and BoxBoy will likely be the post-Direct immediate release.

In fact, the Zelda news was likely filmed for the Direct but then excised to be its own thing so the Direct wouldn't be tainted by disappointing news.

Maybe you should fax your resume over to Nintendo. You're wasting your brilliant ideas on the likes of us here.

I almost wish Iwata didn't mention the NX so idiots like you could infect every thread with bullshit about Nintendo going third-party. At least it'd beat this obsessive hatred of the Wii U.

I would be very, very surprised if we don't get one this week

I'm sad I won't be playing Zelda U this year, but threads like this make me laugh so it isn't all bad.
Seriously, they delayed a game for quality reasons and were upfront about it, they could use it this holiday season and they won't sacrifice quality for sales. The response? People go batshit crazy.

They'll announce new games at E3, the fact that ONE game got delayed and won't show up at E3 doesn't spell out anything for Wii U.
Wii U is dead sales wise, nothing will change that. They'll keep releasing games for it, Zelda will come out, Wii U will have 4-5 years lifespan and life will go on.

You don't know what games they could announce at E3, so you assume they have no games to announce at E3? Seems fair.

You do know that games can be announced at E3 right?

Sure. I'm just trying to remain some level of realism looking back. It's not unheard of them to announce games at E3 to be released later that year. It's also not unheard of them to then later delay those games (Captain Toad and Donkey Kong). Other than that I can't think of many examples in the last five years or so that would raise my expectations very high. It's probably best to accept that Wii U will peak with Splatoon and after that phasing out begins.

I know the Wii U is doing shit, but the NX (as far as they've told us) is strictly for their mobile business and has nothing to very little to do whatsoever with their home console. So according to you that means Nintendo won't have a home console at all in the time period between Wii U's death and the new home console?

I find that hard to believe.

New thread for new news. Although people do jump the gun with thread making.

I could see that if OP didn't know it was already posted in the other thread.

From other thread:
RIP Wii U.

is the 2015 quote real? if so, RIP wii u indeed.

And so Aostia took that link and made a new thread. Seems less "jumping the gun," more "not enough people cared in the other thread, so I made a redundant one."
