It seems Rihanna has learned from her life experiences. “The more we respect ourselves the more men will respect us,” she says. “I have both sides to me and I think most women do. We are strong but they are very vulnerable as well.

Do you agree that this sentiment is feminism DONE RIGHT, GAF? Do you rihspect the women in your life?

See Home, the best reviewed cinema experience of the year, out in the U.S. on March 27th. Stay perched{T} for Rihanna's as of yet untitled eighth album coming within the next few weeks/months/years.

I'm really confused. This thread got like 3 different subjects going on at once.

Is Home riri's next album ?
What's the deal with the girl with the horrible tats ?

Kind of reminds me of Fox/Republican talking point on race relations. "Fix your problems first and earn the equality you keep demanding."

It seems like an empty statement to me, I mean you can just as easily say "The more men respect women, the more women will respect themselves." Like what/how exactly does a woman demonstrate she respects herself? By being submissive to men? Placating to what they think a woman should be doing? Not being "slutty", being "pure"?

The onus shouldn't be on the oppressed to be treated fairly by the oppressor.

Moving into the 'loving aunt' phase of a pop icons life it seems. Nevermind she made her fortune in a sexploitation industry.

Money and age makes us wiser b ^.^

I think we need more to go by with just a sentence that Rihanna said. As of now that women with those tattoos are far more distracting for this to be a productive thread.

Home is a Dreamworks movie to be released at the end of the month. Rihanna voices the main character in the film, Tip (the first main black character in a big budgeted film ever), and is also releasing a concept album that ties into the film.

Her next full album is coming out at some point in the near future.

"Respect" here more than likely is referring to her history with Chris Brown and setting appropriate boundaries in a relationship.

What was she missing?

Angelus covered part of it above. The onus shouldn't only be on women, and it is harder to respect yourself when others don't respect you. They go hand-in-hand.

And while respecting yourself is always a good thing, that doesn't mean good things will always come of it. There are a lot of places where my voice is put down no matter how much self respect I have.

So you're saying she didn't have enough respect for herself and that's why Chris beat her? And if she had only set some boundaries it would have never happened?

Even then that's a very foolish thing to say. No one deserves to get beat up, regardless of how they act in a relationship. Brown should have ended it like an adult if he felt she overstepped her boundaries.

Don't put words in my mouth.

She didn't end the relationship after that incident occurred. She eventually did, and doing that would be something you'd file under "having self-respect."

I'm glad she realizes that. After getting beat up by Chris Brown, she still crawled back to him when she should have locked him out of her life forever.

Pretty sure she ended the relationship almost immediately, she got a restraining order against him and he couldn't be within a certain number of feet of her (he couldn't attend award shows she was at unless she let him) then she got back together with him briefly before saying nah.

Hmm, I wonder why a woman may lack self-respect in relation to men in the first place. It couldn't possibly be because she was conditioned to think that is what men wanted, by the nature of men reinforcing that.

Wow Rihanna really is like Mayapologetic Angeloumbrella. I'm proud that I support such a dignified, fulfilled pop culture icon. When Janet exposed her boob she was foreshadowing Robyn Rihanna Fenty's domination with her pussy popping choreography tbh

R8 is actually her beat generation era fyi. She's serving Kerouac and Ginsberg tiis for this alber
FourFiveSeconds is actually a social commentary on black artists not getting recognized by the cuntry industry. Little did they know a POWERFUL BLACK WOMAN would dominate the genre with such ease. God, Robyn Rihanna Fenty is slowly dismantling the concept of race exclusive music. God UGH. I cannot wait until R8 comes out so I can parade around during MLK Day with the nu Gospel. The nu Qurihanna.

i was confused by the op having a skinny white girl but then i remember rihanna is a dior model now and it made sense.
I would apologize but I'm currently unapologetic.

Stop playing the race card in a Robyn Rihanna Fenty thread. It's tasteless, disgusting, and Gagaesque

She contested an ordered restraining order on him. She said she didn't want it and it would make public events he was also attending a nightmare for both of them.

Make sure to buy Top 4 hit FourFiveSeconds on iTunes or stream it on Spotify.

Also look forward to Rihanna's take on the modern american dream on "American Oxygen", her new single from upcoming album of the year R8.

Let us not forget that in the name of feminism Rihanna chose to rihcord "Birthday Cake" and "Nobody's Bidneh". To lay her fears about Chris to doubt, Robyn forced herself to write, produce, and sing these songs with her own ABUSER. She faced up to him to make the smashes of the DECADE, then disposed of him after she was done; when will Tina and Ike, Madonna and Sean Penn tbqfh????

Rihanna is using these life experiences to make her own auditory [ b i l d u n g s r o m a n ]. The true R8 experience.
