So hyped for this.

Spence has made easy work of everyone he's faced so far and is so highly rated that I think he takes it Rd 7-9. That said, with Brook's speed and accuracy it could be a long night for Errol.

A real anything could happen fight for me

Like I said before, so hyped!

Spence is highly overrated by Americans desperate for a big PPV star.

I see it going no other way but Brook getting the KO around about Rd 6.

Hard one to call. I do agree people are sleeping on Brook and tend to overrate Spence a little, as much as I want Errol to be a star and hope he continues his rise. A big factor will be how well Brook's orbital bone has healed since last September. He says it's good, but that can be a nagging injury for fighters and is something Spence will be pinpointing early on. From a few workouts I watched a month or more ago, I thought it still looked a little off. Probably nothing, but that is an injury that can permanently lower a fighter's (facial) durability.

I think they probably underrate Kell more than anything. (Sorry to generalize)

Nah, there is definitely a need for another big PPV star in the US. Many boxing fans and commentators in the US are looking at what is happening in the UK and wondering how it has got to this. Boxing is dying in the US.

Errol may be quite good but he lacks personality/charisma to be a ppv star.

Both could be the new 147 king. Really interested to see how this goes. Hope Brooks injury against GGG doesnt come back to haunt him

This is a massive fight. Two great fighters. I think people are sleeping on Kell Brook and I can see him pulling off the win but the fight can go either way.

Very hyped.

Spence has all of the tools to be great he lacks the resume. This is the right fight at the right time hope he wins it.

People are not high on Spence because of desperation anybody with eyes can see the high ceiling.

Whats really going on is y'all are salty Brook isn't getting the respect you think he deserves.

It's because we've only saw Kell vs Porter which was a good win, but then nothing else besides the boneheaded decision of fighting Golovkin in a fight he had no chance of winning only to suffer from a broken eye socket in a TKO that everybody expected.

Kell is definitely talented but I just don't know where to gauge him at because he hasn't fought any other top welterweight in a division that's deep with talent and names.

Errol Spence is a hot up and comer that still has a lot to prove but people get excited at his potential right now due to it's high ceiling. However he still has to fight the fights and win impressively to live up to it, so we'll find out this Saturday.

I got Errol Spence by a decisive victory, and freely admit it's American bias and historically UK fighters being suspect. However I just hope it's a good to great fight.

LOL This is nonsense. They've been saying Boxing is dying in the US for over 50 years now. Plus your'e saying that as if Canelo didn't just fight Chavez Jr in Las Vegas and have over 1 million PPV buys.

You come across really insecure about UK boxing.

I actually wrote an article on this topic a few months ago.

Nothing about what I have posted is nonsense. Canelo is the exception and you know this. What other PPV stars are in the US? GGG isn't a PPV star.

To put numbers into perspective, Joshua vs Klitschko had over 1.2 million PPV buys in the UK. The UK is over 5 times smaller than the US, and although it was a big fight, it was only Joshua's 19th fight.

This fight will do about 300-400k in the UK. Relative to the size of the UK vs US that is far more than Canelo. And Brook isn't even considered a PPV star in the UK.

Boxing is 100% dying in the US. The US is desperate for more PPV stars.

I will read this in a bit.

Now Canelo is the exception. LOL But you just said there weren't any US PPV stars and we were desperate for one? How much do you think Golovkin vs Canelo is going to do? Mayweather and Pacquaio occurring at the same time was an anomaly.

The UK as a PPV market is only getting bigger and better. I see that as good thing for Boxing. It's weird you view it as some sort of competition between the states and UK.

A young Joshua taking the crown away from Klistchko in an exciting fight with a decisive KO in a sold out fight that did well for PPV is not only good for Boxing but more importantly good for the Heavyweight division. Again, I'm happy about that.

I'm not a fan of PPV's and in general feel too many fights go there that shouldn't be there, and let's the fewest amount of people watch them.

Boxing is a niche sport in America that still does relatively well. It is not dying.

You keep saying the US is desperate for PPV stars, specifically who? Not the fans.

Boxing do not need a ppv star

Ppv is what kills boxing. As well as a single star.

Floyd did more harm than good for the sport imho.

You also need to factor in that PPVs cost a shit ton more in the US. Most PPVs in the UK are like 15 quid. Wonder how many buys they'd get if they were 49.99

Agree in general, disagree about Floyd. Floyd was one of the few who commanded the ability for his fights to be on PPV and brought mainstream attention to the sport during his fights.

Bruh, a lot of the Pacquiao and Mayweather PPV's were like 70 dollars for HD.

If Errol Spence is the real deal, he beats Brook in impressive fashion. Kell's an intense, talented guy and he's not just gonna cough it up.

Too many unknowns to be certain but I'm fairly confident about Spence.

Well i mean ur saying that boxing is dying. And guess what, this is after floyd left. He brought mainstream attention to his fights, not the sport

As for the 2nd thing. You are proving his point that american ppv is more expensive than the uk, so ofcourse they will sell more

If Spence is the real deal it'll probably be a good fight, Jeff Lacy come's to mind......

Too close to call for me. I can see this is one going the distance. I'd probably err towards Brook if I had to pick a winner, but either way I'm expecting a close fight if they are both on their game.

Well i mean ur saying that boxing is dying. And guess what, this is after floyd left. He brought mainstream attention to his fights, not the sport

What? I'm saying boxing isn't dying. It's not Floyd's fault, the mainstream neglects covering boxing except for Superstars or Big matchups. Part of Boxing being neglected by Mainstream in America has everything to do with the "Glamour division" becoming unglamorous once Wlad reigned over the division for over a decade. Joshua becoming champion and a star in the UK is just the shot in the arm to revive it here in America especially if they can hype a massive showdown between him and Deontay Wilder.

However Boxing will never be the massive mainstream sport it once was, and it doesn't have too as it can go on existing and moving along as it's been doing.

If Spence is the real deal it'll probably be a good fight, Jeff Lacy come's to mind......
LOL Jeff Lacy was definitely overhyped and overrated, and my dumb ass bought into it at the time. I remember inviting all my friends to watch that fight and witnessing that "White boy" whoop that ass. My friends were clowning me the whole time. That was one of the most embarrassing and worst losses I've seen of a title unification between undefeated and highly touted fighters. Only wish Joe Calzaghe came to the states right after that and make his mark here.

I am not really sure why you are so defensive about this? I am just stating the fact that the boxing in US is falling behind the UK as far as popularity. Historically, the US has been the #1 market for it. There is clearly a lack of popularity for boxing in the US compared to previous generations.

The Canelo/GGG fight will be very big. I am not sure why you are denying Canelo is the exception. Unless you want to name more? I am also not sure why you are calling Mayweather and Pac an anomaly either. Was Tyson and Holyfield an anomaly too? What about De la hoya? That is three huge PPV stars in America from the same generation. Is that an anomaly too?

When I talk about PPV stars, I am talking about boxers who capture the interest of the public to the point they are willing to pay to watch them. A lack of PPV stars is an good indication that people are not interested in boxing as they once were.

After going to a friends house to watch that canelo vs Chavez fight, I don't think I can watch boxing anymore. Boring fights with fake hype.

I mistook you for the other guy i was quoting earlier. But my point stands. Floyd was not good for the sport in itself. Everything outside of him and Manny went unchanged and stayed that way. But now the difference is everyone expects big money to even make a decent fight nowadays

You get guys like Berto making a mil per fight. Get outta here.

We're literally coming off of two of biggest PPV stars of all time and you're already claiming some lack of popularity. Mayweather is still going to be involved in one of the biggest PPV's of all time if he fight McGregor this year. Two Welterweight stars averaging the amount of those PPV's were anamolies. Heavyweight Boxing always had PPV stars. PPV stars especially at the level of Mayweather, Pacquiao, DeLaHoya, and Tyson don't come around but so often.

You have to give it time and build it back up. In the meantime you have Canelo doing solid to great PPV's.

The UK opening up as another major market is great for the sport overall.

Floyd wasn't bad for the sport either. Canelo was in a high profile fight with him and he's continue to be in high profile fights for the sport. I can't believe you're faulting fighters getting most they can make instead of the networks like HBO that enabled it by paying for it instead of being more forceful on who they fought. Al Haymon did his fighters right.

What? Jeff Lacy come over here witn the same kinda hype "the next Mike Tyson" and got schooled bro.

They're completely different technically. Lacy had gaping, obvious flaws that everyone could see, it was a matter of if he could make it work(he couldn't). With Spence, it's a question of if his apparently sharp grasp on the fundamentals holds up at the highest level.

And you're just bringing that up because of the US vs UK thing. A better comparison would be Jorge Linares getting knocked out or David Reid failing under Trinidad's prowess. There was Andre Dirrell never rising to the occasion or, hell, Amir Khan suffering the losses he did.

I dont fault floyd for trying to make as much money as possible. I admire it, but im not going to act like his pressence in the sport once he turned into Money May, lifted the sport up. When you are paying guys like Berto a mil to fight bums they will expect 2 or 3 mil to fight someone they are suppose to. And when hbo are paying that much for bum fights there is not enough in the budget to spread around. Thats why you only see like a handful of good well matched fights a year now.

That's not Money May's fault though. He fought the big fights. Blame HBO and Showtime who allowed Haymon to hustle them. As Steve Kim said, Haymon was doing his job. HBO and Showtime weren't.

Mate your bringing up the US vs UK thing, go back and read my post(cos i know you wanna make it US UK thing), Gevonta Davies come over here and lived up to the hype just last week.Lets face it, Spence hasn't faced anybody at kell's level and we will find out if hes a hype job or not.

Well there is plenty of blame to go around. Just saying Floyd didnt help the sport. And he is a part of the blame. But i wouldnt fault him for doing what is best for him and not the sport.
