You can search for exactly 2048x2048.

Not on the iPad, whether you use the full or tablet site. Probably have to browser spoof to get the controls to show up.

Google always doing weird shit to iOS devices...

How do you copy the images to your iPad? Just press and hold and save? Does that definitely save them (in safari) at the native res or does it downscale them?

Since there's a dire lack of wallpapers posted in this thread, I'll post a bunch I found that I liked, and one I made myself. Click for 2048x2048.

EDIT: some of them are still uploading to Dropbox, should be all up in 10min or so.

It saves at full size, I verified it in iPhoto. It's weird because some of the images I came across, Safari would say it's 1024x1024 in the tab, but it's actually 2048x2048.

Glad you checked... because that was confusing the hell out of me!

Thanks

It took way longer than I expected to scale and crop these to fit the iPad template. Anyway, heres a bunch of photos that I found and converted:

Does somebody know where to find a hi-res Darth Vader Wallpaper for the new iPad? something along this line:

thanks in advance!

Edit: All you guys using imagevenue.com to host are compressing the shit out of your images, making them look pretty bad on the new iPad screen.

I'm not sure what images you're downloading, but this is not the case for the wallpapers I've uploaded. I see no difference in the image quality in Aperture and on the imagevenue website. If you're talking about the thumbnails, they compress them, but not the actual image.

I've double checked this on my iPad by downloading wallpapers from imagevenue and comparing them to the copies I had from Aperture, which are the original.

I can't speak for anyone elses images, but mine are not compressed because of imagevenue.

Sorry, not yours. Most of yours look nice. ;)

There was another post with images like this:

It's been heavily compressed, just look at all the JPEG artifacts. Plus ImageVenue can only accept 3mb max file size, so many high quality 2048x2048 images won't fit there without further compression. Perhaps you are right that imagevenue doesn't force compression if your file is under 3mb, but that doesn't stop people from uploading ugly files, so that's actually what I should be disappointed in.

This kind of stuff stands out more on the iPad than most other places. (but I'm sort of trained to have this OCD level eye, so that's not helping my sanity)

Just wanted to throw this in the list of iPad wallpapers. I use this one for my lock screen. Was using the KH one that was here before, but was annoyed the top was getting lopped off in horizontal mode.

The fine gentleman known as Mantia has updated ALL of his wallpapers for the retina display. Some really amazing texture working going on here. Many of the wallpapers are old-er, and I've sure most of you have seen some these before, but the new resolution really sets them off from other wallpapers I've seen so far.
