HxH

I'm glad I decided to catch up to this at such a fun point in time, HxH is at it's best when it has crazy power shenanigans going on.

I think the optional request thing revealed this week might play a big role in how he might save Gon without thousands dying as a result.

I still think the request thing is gonna end badly for at least one more person before the end of this arc though, if she's already asking for pinky nails I can imagine more messed up requests in the future.

He's male (everyone refer to him as male).
Except Killua, that is, so we still don't know what's up with that, really...

I think Killua refers to Alluka as female and Nanika as male but I can't say for sure.
There isn't anything about Killua thinking of "Something" as a male (so far, anyway?).

Infinite Justice said:
seems everyone else thinks Alluka is male and Killua thinks the other side is male and the normal one is female.
Nothing about that last part so far, as said above.

Yeah we don't know for sure, but it makes sense so I'm going with that until we know better.

In any case I'd assume that unless Killua wished for an Alluka sex change secretly, Alluka's parents would know his real gender.

And it certainly doesn't seem to be a secret that he considers Alluka his sister, since he blatantly says so to the butlers this week...
I dunno, the whole thing is still pretty vague, and I'd rather not eliminate possibilities at this point. Hell, it might also have something to do with Kalluto (a male dressed as a female? and who's the "older brother" he wants to get back? could it be that Alluka's gender was changed from male to female at some point, and that's what Kalluto means by "getting his brother back": undo the change?)...

Also, about this week's episode... I wonder how Illumi's family would like it if they knew how much he told Hisoka.

Alluka was real cool but now her powers have waaay too many rules.
Well she is specialization type and we already learned that those tend to have rules limiting their power\use of power. Considering how devastatingly strong her power seems to be, it's ok there are so many rules.
Otherwise, everything would be too easy.

The majority of these rules are for the readers and their imaginations. Togashi doesn't want a bunch of fan mail asking questions like "Why didn't Killua or Milluki use Alluka to get a copy of the Greed Island game?", "Could Alluka have brought Kaito or the Chairman back to life?", etc... All these rules eliminate at least half of those questions.

I'm back!

TWGOK (I don't care that I'm late)

AYUMI!

So glad she has the final goddess. I'd hate for Chihiro to steal all that extra panel time.

Nisekoi 2

I don't care what anyone says, I still love the yakuza and gangsters. I couldn't stop smiling. It's good stuff.

It was nearly enough that Kirisaki was the "energetic one" but getting the entire second chapter was pretty major too. Still, the other girl is also in a good spot (having childhood connection without being childhood friend).
This is secretly pretty dangerous.

Also it would be incredible if she didn't actually meet them next chapter. The obvious misunderstanding premonition is a tad too obvious isn't it?

Kamisama no Iutoori 5

I don't want to sound predictable, but some serious shit is going to go down in the coming chapters. I figured that there would be more games after the cat, but i'm fine with shun and the other survivors finally leaving the school. 3 million kids wiped out...

(whistles)

So I started watching Fist of the North Star (I know, I should have done this a while ago), but the censorship is starting to annoy me a bit. Should I just read the manga or continue the anime?

The anime is pretty bogged down by filler (although the filler does at least make one early villain more memorable, and I think the anime has a cool soundtrack and cool voice acting), so I'd go with the manga.

I'm thinking Pariston's greed is going to result in him being on the wrong side of Alluka's pesterings at some point.

Man if only Pariston so much as learned about the ability I don't even know what would happen.

It can definitely leak out to Pariston if Killua gives Morau more hints.

It's possible that Kalluto's just trying to make Nanika disappear. As long as Kalluto refers to Alluka as male like everyone else, it fits.

Not saying there aren't more possibilities, but this whole "different genders for the two personalities" seems like a pretty good explanation to Killua's behavior. It explains why he'd be comfortable in calling Alluka his sister when physically she's male.

Princess Resurrection 67
Setup chapter, hope the conclusion is more exciting than I'm anticipating. Also don't trust anyone named Rudy Rude.

Nisekoi 2 - So looks like we're straying a bit from the one shot of
them promising each other as children. I guess for the sake of the serialization, the rival needs to have some merit, huh?

Yeah, just a bit too obvious of a setup. Which means that is exactly how it will happen.

Bakuman

I don't really like the translation that's up right now. Anyways, Mashiro wants to change Reversi's name to Bakuman, I don't really need to tell you guys what that must mean, right?

Fruits Basket vol 5 bunko edition

This volume had a couple of moments in which Tohru shows that there is some darkness deep down in her that will have even her stop smiling and look pained, although she's good at getting back to her usual self and being nice to everyone, even that little asshole Hiro.
Akito has been established as a big piece of shit, and I remember reading in here that he's a she, which makes sense considering the harem she tries to build up with the males while bitch-slapping the girls until they are hospitalized, though I'm still waiting for it to be revealed in the story.
It was cool to find out that Yuki was the one that helped Tohru get back to her house when she was lost, since initially it seemed like it could have been Kyo too.
Kisa has been awesome since she appeared in the volume before this one. I can't get enough of Tohru silly face when she sees Kisa and the huggings they exchange.
Up to this point, it would almost seem as if all these animal people are drawn to Tohru because she's basically the nice, loving, caring mother they never had and would even explain why Hiro is a little dick, as he has a loving mother himself.

Finally. This poor manga is being put to rest.

It's a troll scan. The actual chapter doesn't say anything about changing Reversi's name to Bakuman.

Hajimete no Aku... does this one turn into battle shounen later on?

Doesn't seem like it.

Buraiden Gai

Part 2 of my Fukumoto marathon! Definitely has the dude's distinct style of storytelling, mind games, and zawa all put in a prison break situation. Being short, it didn't take long to reach a satisfying conclusion with cocky villains breaking down and the main characters getting out mostly unscathed. Not quite as threatening as Fukumoto's other stuff since there was only 1 "game of death" and it wasn't even a super hard one. No drop in tension though.

Definitely recommended to all Kaiji/Akagi/whatever Fukumoto fans.

I didn't think of that, but yeah, that'll probably happen.

I don't think there really needs to be a supernatural explanation, I figured he just liked to dress as/be referred to as a girl and Killua was just more open-minded about it than the rest of his family.

So Bakuman looks to be heading to the end now that Reversi is on Jump and they're bringing up Azuki again.

In other news, Otters 11 is apparently getting novelized. Any more details about that?

Bakuman 155:

I was hoping we'd get to see a couple of pages for both the new series by now. But anyway, with all this hype going on this chapter, Reversi better get an anime. It's too bad none of the other mangakas are doing anything significant right now though.

Bakuman Troll Chapter:

As soon as I saw this dialogue I stopped reading it:

Shujin: "Fuck yeah"
Saiko: "Is this real life?"

Switch Girl vol 10

Nika as an old woman had some great comedic panels and situations. Hitomi plan to try and snare Arata didn't pay off, making Arata look even more as a great guy.
That Shutei loser though didn't learn the lesson last time, and is now back with a vengeance, and Nika got captured (by some dangerous individuals) as the volume ended.
Now to wait december for the next volume.
Oh, honorable mention for the other switch girl introduced, the otagirl! I hope there will be more of her in the future.

Fairy Tail

Who is the person Natsu fought? Am I supposed to remember him from somewhere?
Just one of the loser guild members who took the slow path.

Also: Why is this most recent Deux Ex Machina powerup the one that sticks? It's the most offensive of them all.

It's also the only vaguely memorable one.

If any other power up would've sticked, chances are people wouldn't have recognised it with how original all of Natsu's fire moves tend to be.

I thought it is because it had the least debilitating side effect?

...I somehow never read Chapter 8. Huh.

Anyway, Ninjas sure are amazing.

Edit:

Harisugawa 18 - So it's not outright stated but looks like
swapping places via the mirror is going to come down to Harisugawa wavering between the two girls
. Not ... much else, honestly. Kind of expected more out of this development to be tackled right here but looks like we'll have to wait :/

Kyousou no Simulacra vol 1

This is the whole concept of little sister tropes turned into a battle shounen. Loving it so far. Hope translations pick up again since it looks like there hasn't been any for a while.
