Atlus to announce 2017 Japan slate this Sunday

So, back in december 2016, Naoto Hiraoka (Atlus Business director) said that there were Persona announcements planned for 2017. We'll probably hear about at least one this Sunday.

Persona 5 Dancing & Stealing All-Night here we go
I'd be down for Persona 5 Arena. Never played the other Persona fighting games and have been getting really into fighting games so I hope thats announced.

I know its very unlikely given its not out in NA yet but please, please announce Persona 5 for Switch.

I get extreme pain when playing on tv plus the temperature rises in the room by 23 degrees from the heat of PS4 + TV. Please I don't want to have to suffer 100+ hours. I mean I will get it on PS4 at launch if theres no portable version since this is one of the few series I'll do it for, but considering I'll play everyday for 5+ hours I am dreading it.

Have you considered Vita Remote Play as a viable option?

P4DAN was more like "let's dance to resolve our stupid teenagers problems about idols and creepy-pasta found on internet", slightly different.

Heh, sure, but the suicide and depression part was there, at least. P3D would probably be pretty much the same, except replace Internet world with hidden time zone.

It'd be pretty good if a P5 spin-off were announced here when the game isn't even out in the West.

Atlus not only announced, but released Persona 3 Fes in Japan before NA/EU even got the original Persona 3. Sure it isn't portable, but still an updated version. I was even checking through old gaf archives and found this funny thread:

Maybe they care more now tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wow they were just as irritated with P3's release date then as many of us have been recently with P5. I've gotten over my rage though, only 2 weeks to go!

Yeah I really don't see them doing P5 Switch atm. I mean, Switch is more than enough to play a PS3+ game out of the gate, unlike, say, the situation with PS2 and PSP, but if they are going to do a whole portable version with extra content to sell the game again/to a new audience, it would seem like only one year between PS4 release and a hypothetical Switch release would be too little. IDK. It would be nice if we got to a world where Persona launched simultaneously on portable and stationary consoles, with the extra content being delivered via DLC rather than a rerelease on a new platform, but we're not there yet, I'd assume.

We also don't know yet how much PS4/Switch multiplatform that Atlus is going to do. Could be they keep things in their lane, so to speak, even though now there is a unique opportunity to hit both PS stationary console and Nintendo portable at relatively low hassle, historically speaking. The SMT HD project is also interesting in that regard.

Either Etrian Odyssey (death of dual screen) or Trauma Center (but technically there were several Trauma Center games on Wii).

Eh? Trauma Center/Team could be right at home on the NS. It has pointing and motions that could be used just like the Wii versions. Trauma Team is one of my all time favorite games and I would love to see them continue that series. I'm sure they could get EO to work with only one screen. Would be awesome to play that on the TV.

Yeah, as I said above I want to see that they are making that work. Surely they could, but things will change a bit with loss of dual screen and move to HD. How does Atlus handle that? I want to know that.

Again, I would be totally unsurprised if this is mostly 3DS stuff.

Trauma Center would not feel as good without a stylus imo.

Although I guess they could easily fix that by bundling a capacitive stylus with retail copies of the game!

A new Trauma Center on Switch would be right at home with the sales of Disgaea 5 on Switch, yes.

I think they'll get more out of the Western version. Gonna take some work for them to build an audience on Nintendo platforms. Looking forward to the game, myself. Even have it pre-ordered.

I think you're right about the 3DS stuff. Huge userbase there, so no reason not to still tap into that.

Did Disgaea 5 sell well or poorly and how does it connect to TC?

Just want to know if you are serious or making a joke :P.

Around 4,600 (Dengeki) / 5,000 (Famitsu) copies sold in the first week, then other 1,300 (Dengeki) the second week. Mind you, the original was the lowest selling Disgaea to boot (22,000 first week, around 60k LTD), and this was a port with DLCs included, but still a pretty small result.

P.S. I know duckroll's going to mock at me for my 60,000 first shipment prediction again, just waiting to see how he's going to do it lol

Thanks. That's sad.

A bit curious what Japan did buy with their Switches, tbh. Assuming Zelda didn't do as well attach rate wise there.

Ready to hear some Switch MegaTen news

or news about games that use MegaTen summons and gameplay mechanics extensively but are totally not MegaTen games, hee ho

am ready to buy a Switch for the right Atlus exclusives

We already know this isn't true, because there are three Trauma games on Wii and they all* control pretty well.

I didn't have a problem with endoscopy. Those games were so awesome. I recommend everyone do themselves a favor and play Trauma Team. Such an awesome game that just didn't get the sales it should have. It's a damn shame, folks.

Yeah I was only thinking about the handheld part. For the TV mode I guess the Wii controls could be possible?

(Are there any games so far that use the IR sensor on the right joycon for pointer controls btw?)

So ready for 3DS SMT. Here's hoping it's not some sort of compilation or we can kiss any chance of localization goodbye (unless it's SMT 1+2 perhaps).

When was the last time a SMT game wasn't localized in English? I feel like we got pretty much everything that came out on DS/3DS. I don't see them breaking that trend now, if only to keep their non-Japanese fanbase happy.

Well, while spin-offs, we did miss out on Devil Summoner and P2:EP on PSP.

Still no Etrian V localisation announcement makes me kind of wary about Atlus USA support on that platform going forward. I guess SMT games should be fine though, and V could just be being held back due to focusing on other stuff, but if it is coming over, it's going to be pretty late.

True. But Golden and P3P have way more work put into them as actual ports while FES is more of a MGS3 situation. Sucks that it got announced before P3 released...

Guess there's still a chance.
Same reason they screw over Atlus USA all the time by leaving them in the dark :/

Only Atlus JP knows their reasons

Maybe Kaneko simulator where we get to be trapped in a flower garden and stroll around. Happy, but trapped nonetheless
Yup. Not to mention the EU just doesn't exist to Atlus.

What I meant is that if they do a rom compilation of old SMT games that includes 2 or more currently non-translated games, then chances are slim that Atlus USA would see it as profitable... But as a matter of fact, we got SMT1 iOS (a miracle), but not SMT2 and If (and I don't blame them).

Basically I've seen people asking for a compilation of the Super Famicom SMT games, but such a package would be a pain in the ass to localize considering two of those three games have never been officially translated.

My hope for this stream is Persona 5 Arena. It'd be weird to hear about P5 spin offs before I've even been given an opportunity to play the game in English, but P4AU is one of my all time fave fighting games and I need a new one to exist.

Also, any Switch game at all. Give me new experiences on my shiny new toy please.

Hoping for Etrian Odyssey on Switch too, but seems little bit early, doubt we'll see any Switch announcements.
Atlus got so many good franchises so just hoping they announce some new games.
