Dov Katz, the head of computer vision at Oculus VR, was arrested near Seattle on December 21 for allegedly soliciting sex from an underage girl. According to charging records, Katz allegedly attempted to pay $350 to have unprotected sex with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl.

Katz, 38, has been charged with attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor. According to the charging documents, Katz wasn’t actually texting a 15-year-old girl, but an undercover agent from the Tukwila Police Department. Katz, an Israeli citizen living in America, has since been released on $125,000 bail according to the King County jail website.

Facebook bought Oculus for $2 billion in 2014. According to a profile in The Times of Israel, Katz was “an an integral part of the team that developed the Oculus Rift headset.”

Looks like the Katz out of the bag

Man, what kind of people do they have leading this company? I know there's a bunch of great people that work there (Carmack, Abrash, some other Valve employees), but the heads of this company just seem... deplorable.

Disgusting.

$125k bail sounds like a low amount for someone who is probably worth multiple millions and holds foreign citizenship.

The worst part is I expect FB/Oculus to handwave it like they did Luckey.

Not a chance, soliciting an underage girl is a way worse offense than funding some shitposting idiots in my opinion. And while I expected Luckey to ride it out, I can't imagine the same with this guy.

To be fair he initially thought she was 19, it's not like he was seeking out kids as the headline makes it out to be. And while he should've backed off once finding out "she" was 15 this still seems like borderline entrapment

I just got done with Giant Bomb addressing a certain Hottest Mess as it was. (And that was with them forgetting Palmer's wild, unsubstantiated promises.)

Wow. First Palmer and now this. What the hell is wrong with Oculus's management?

To be fair he initially thought she was 19, it's not like he was seeking out kids as the headline makes it out to be. And while he should've backed off once finding out "she" was 15 this still seems like borderline entrapment

It's still kind of unhealthy for a 38-year-old technology executive to date a 19-year-old. The gulf in power dynamics is unreal.
