this has lots of gameplay tweaks for close ranged weapons and balance to fractions. probably the best ai also. if those were the reasons you couldn't get into the first one, then you can try again.
because sony doesn't have many choices when it comes to first party vita games to put on ps+
either way, given I haven't finished the first one, and will likely be pouring a crap ton of time into sword art online starting next week I will have to pass at this time.
if you own the first one, you can pick up the game right from where you left off
Well putting the first one up is a good indicator that this might be put up at one point. I do get that they put the first one up in hopes that people buy Delta, and it might take awhile, but I eventually see it coming to PS+.

Loved the first one. But paid full price and was annoyed it went free so fast.

They put the first one up for like a week before this game came out so people could try before Delta.
It was never on the PS+ collection or anything, just stealth free.

You can start from where you left off on this. Launch the game and import save file!
There's a lot more story and lots of new lore.

What else is there other than Grimm monsters? I heard they're like Avalon pacts and add nothing to the story. True?

The avalon pacts are just now regular pacts and and character side story pacts are divided into 3 fraction. Which all have of characters have story that narrator met along them in his journey. The grim story is not just additional side story though so yes its more story to original one that book didn't mention before and fills gap too.
Also all monsters have their story on the lore page (aside from Odin that is the latest dlc).
Other than more more story, monsters, weapons there's a unlimited maze floors you can do and blank page pact that randomly creates pacts.

Absolutely. SDD improve the original game in every way possible. If you like the first game, picking this up is a no brainer especially at half price.
It depends on your expectation
Do you expect a game that work exactly like MonHun to the T? Stay away from this game.
Do you expect a game within the same genre that plays differently? Maybe you should try.
