THQ: Durango/PS4 at next E3
#1
I recently was at the WWE '13 press event in Los Angeles and got to talk to the Senior Producer of the game, Arnaud Frey. When we talked about how frustrating it must be for them to have to keep working with an old engine, he let it slip that they're working on a WWE game for the next gen consoles. He says that next gen systems will be announced at the 2013 E3 and that the first WWE next gen game will be released in two years (WWE '14 will be released on current systems). Here is the link to the video interview where he says all that: http://www.jeuxvideomagazine.com/act...geles-a1061370 (the part about next gen starts at 5:23).

Even so, those games are just going to get Nextbox/PS4 releases as well most likely. Better framerates and textures most likely, right? |

Yukes can make a competent wrestling game. I thought both Wrestle Kingdom games were really good evolutions of the Day of Reckoning engine and were fun games. I'd really like to see that engine used in a new game. There seems to be some intervening factor with the WWE games that keeps them from evolving. |

From what I've heard from various people at the event, people at Yuke's don't think too highly of the Wii U...

Why mention his real name? I'm sure if you told him that you were going to go straight to Neogaf to post about it, he wouldn't have told you or asked not to mention his name/position.
edit- i f'd up and did something i often complain about. it's time to go to bed. :(

Can you read? The link is to a video interview. He was on camera the whole time. And believe me, I know how to protect my sources when needed.

That's still a bit misleading headline though, unless they specifically ruled out Wii U. There's a difference between not liking a system and not developing for it, then again I'm not sure THQ will be around in two years, so it probably doesn't matter much.

As far as I know, there is no WWE '13 for the Wii U. I don't know if next year's game will be released on the Wii U though.

Yeah, baffling decision, but THQ is probably doing all it can to desperately stay alive, which makes it all the more interesting that they'd really start developing the "real" next-gen WWE games (or the engine) years ahead and exclude Wii U. I mean... what if Wii U succeeds and you've wasted a ton of money on stuff you can't (easily) use on it ?

No Vita version either. They were pretty high on putting those games on PSP. A Vita version would look amazing considering what they could do within the limits of the PSP.

One of those is almost (seemingly) dead, the other is the successor to the (by far) most successful platform this gen. The way some companies approach development/business makes me sometimes wonder if these people have lost their grip on reality.

As far as the Vita is concerned, you should go there and put the last paragraph in a web translator: http://www.jeuxvideomagazine.com/dos...nfos--a1061299
