And sooo glad to see A Separation make it so high off of so few lists.

that is a DAMN good list, and I love that the artist just barely makes it on the list at 20. time to fill in the gaps and catch up on stuff like A Separation.

The violence is well done in the movie, but I think people who enjoyed it got a lot more out of the experience than just the violence.

I happened to catch the Warrior completely by accident at a buddy's one afternoon. For what was obviously just a smaller film, it worked out half-decent. I take not a shred of interest in the MMA, but the movie managed to divorce itself enough from the spectacle of it (except towards the conclusion, obviously) that it allowed some small amount of breathing room for the actors to play who they were outside the ring. Probably not a movie I'd see a second time, but I recommend watching it once.

Still need to see 50/50, Midnight in paris, Hugo, Shame, The Artist, Melacncholia, Take shelter, MI GP and Tintin. They should all hopefully be getting blu-ray releases within the next two months here!

Pretty much

Had I not known it was violent from reading up on it here I wouldn't have expected it at all when it came and I was already loving it up to that point.

When someone says why they hated it they usually say something about them not talking hardly at all and just smiling. Those reasons are part of why I liked it so much.

Yeah, I loved it. I wasn't expecting to after the last few Almodovar films, but to my surprise he's back to being interesting.

Attack the Block is good, but I'm not surprised it isn't in the 20.

Been meaning too for the longest time. lol Now I gotta see that and "A Separation"

EDIT: The Descendants at #21??? Wow....not many people saw it (or heard about it) I assume.

no a lot of people saw it. a lot. had a big ad campaign and was in theaters for a while. in fact, it had a bigger BO gross than Drive, Tree of Life, A Separation, and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy combined.

I don't think Drive was the best film this year, but it makes sense that it would be gaf's number one. Outside of that, pretty good list.

When someone says why they hated it they usually say something about them not talking hardly at all and just smiling. Those reasons are part of why I liked it so much.

I went into it thinking it was going to be more of an artsy heist film with a romantic subplot. I watched it with my parents who knew nothing about it and they thought it was going to turn into a Nascar film when they bought the race car. We were all surprised to say the least, and all three of us really enjoyed it.

I think it is a pretty great top 20. I only saw ten of the movies, and plan to see 8 of the remaining ten. Tree of Life and Melancholia are the only two I am avoiding because I dislike the directors previous works but I will probably end up checking them out.
