I really hate some enemies can walk, or even worse teleport, then attack 3 times (often some high crit damage or annoying magic, or knock you down after breaking your shields in the same turn)...how many APs and move range these things even have? I'm only hard countering by the same bullshit 1 hit wonders ranger builds, not even wanting to do the super boring summoner route.

As much as I generally like the game, the balancing really puts me off here and there. Heading into Nameless island real soon.

To be fair it does do the exact same tactics a human would do. Rush your squishies. Its a shame taunt is utter dog shit otherwise stuff like this could have been mitigated somewhat.

Act 2 question

I killed Ryker and got another Source point. Is there any reason to delay the second ritual, or should I keep questing and finding more Sourceres? I don't want to progress the story too much as I've a ton of side quests left in Act 2.

You can do it asap. You can't accidentally end the chapter or advance in the story.

Guys are there any mods you would recommend?

Want to start playing so I'm gonna scour this thread for tips, as I usually mess up in these kinds of games :)

Honestly, I'm looking really hard at the mod that reduces the amount of armor that enemies have (and adding the reduction to vitality). I like the armor system, but I don't think it is balanced enough. The gap between starting a battle and actually being able to use crowd control options is too long.

Also, unless you are multiclassing everyone, you will run into situations where a character is completely useless for the rest of the battle because the available enemies have the armor type that you don't have any options for. It forces you to play in this really min-max way that goes against the freedom the game is known for.

This is the mod I'm talking about.

I'm probably going to hold off because the game is still getting regular patches, and this might be something that the developer addresses in some way. Also, the mod author was a little too aggressive in how much armor he removed. It needs a small tweak, not as big as what he did.

Entering Arhu's room, even in stealth mode, somehow alerts the paladins to the other side of the map. Jeez.

You can bypass them with movement abilities and then bring the rest of your party over with a teleport pyramid.

What was the fix for the "dirty" portrays?

I thought it was because of my graphic setting, but I just got my new graphic card and they still look like this even at ultra.

Act 3+ Spoiler Question: (Related to final section of the act)

So I was in a rush and just gave the succubus swornbreaker without really thinking of the ramifications of the weapon. I assumed she'd give it back after she was done with it but this was not the case. Can you use the scythe on the undead versions of the companions you didn't select and get them on your side?

Turn off light shadows in the graphics options before using the mirror, then reactivate after leaving mirror.

Good luck doing four casters with Glass Cannon. That talent only really works if whoever has it goes first and they take out whatever enemy can keep them locked forever on their first turn. You also don't need Living on the Edge for any other build, so if it's needed for casters that should tell you something.

I was honestly exagerating a little, but yeah casters are still nuking the living hell out of everything if you build them properly

You either play tankish - buffer or glass canon - nuker. The only downside is that I feel like its way too centered around resistances in order to do high damage.

That and basically you want Fire or blood.

Finished:

-Skyrim
-Diablo III

What should I do?

I'm not entirely sure what parts you consider "too deep/complex". So I listed some things that might be of interest. That said this game is big, open-ended and challenging. I'm halfway after playing for 3 weeks.

Quests: Basically, you have to figure out for yourself where to go and what to do. The game keeps track of what you have done.
This game does not tell you explicitly what to do and is very open-ended. The quest log keeps track of what happens during certain quests. But it never tells you exactly what to do or where to go (it does give hints). Some quests will put markers on your map of places of interest (and you can create your own). The game wont tell you which markers is connected with which quest.

Combat: Again, the game expects you to be creative. Use your abilities and environment, don't just autoattack.
Classic, the normal difficulty, is very challenging. Combat is turnbased and the game expects you to use your abilities and environment.
With you abilites you can not only do damage, but also set status effects, reposition yourself or the enemy and manipulate the environment.
Status Effects are a huge deal. Damage types and resistances are a big deal (they are nicely colour coded).

Character building:
As you level you can raise stats (str, dex, int etc). They're pretty self explanatory.
You also get 1 point to spend in combat 'schools'. This gives you a bonus specific for that school (usually damage). It'll also allow you to learn/use better abilities. No skill trees.
You can learn new abilities by finding or buying skillbooks. The number of abilities you can use at a specific moment is limited and depends on a stat.
Gear is very important. Loot is bit Diablo-ish

Map/Movement: Though sections of the map are gated level-wise, you have a lot of freedom of movement
Per chapter you are locked to a certain location.
The map is pretty gated combat wise. Enemies and rewards are fixed level. Fighting higher level enemies is fatal, but you can still explore.
You can teleport to unlocked waypoints from any location (except when in combat).
You can use combat abilities to move around. You can jump/teleport up a cliff.
The game doesnt tell you where to go/give you directions. But you can select a marker on your map (see quests) and the minimap will show the direction.

Elemental damage takes out physical classes better for obvious reasons, but ironically, Rangers, Rogues and Warriors still do a better job handling them too. I've also never actually seen the point of blood damage. It's physical, and it always does less damage than what a physical class can do. The best use I found for it was to finish off any potentially leftover armor on an enemy that is mostly stripped from a previous character. But then even Shield Toss is better than any Necromancy spell for that when it's not on cooldown.

"Casters" in this game are actually really powerful, but that has more to do with Summoning than spell slinging.

Vendors reset their wares every 1 hour in game or when you gain a level.

He's used to commanding someone's full attention as he demands it. Someone suddenly vanishing before his eyes as he's giving them a good old "what for" would completely devastate him, so it's understandable. Good job giving him Paladin Traumatic Stress Disorder.

You in Act 2, driftwood?

In that cellar? You should already have it. It is like a knife. Though make sure you click on that shelf in the room to get the materials to do the ritual.

If you have the ceremonial bowl and blackroot, you also have the lancet.
I think it's under the "miscellaneus" tab and it goes under "ingredients" once you use it on yourself.

I don't exactly remember where he first appears, but I think he is that guy. If you want to know what the unusual pieces are for, giving him those gets you a overpowered sword with just 1 durability.

Swornbreaker spoilers/information:
Sooo this weapon does not work like i expected it to. I thought i'd be able to use it to break people from the godking's oath. I loaded an old save and wanted to try to free some people only to find out that it only casts on yourself and breaks after you do s.
So now i'm confused as to what its purpose is and what you're supposed to do with it if you don't give it to the quest giver that asks for it.

Thats giving them away, I gave one to the Succubus. I suspect the other will be for the prince quest. However you can also just use the weapons power on yourself.
Is there an option to join the godking, maybe if thats the case the swornbreaker can be used to back out.
