Diablo 3 Releasing in Q2 (April-June), New WoW: Pandaria Info On March 19th

So, given that only two Blizzard titles are officially targeted for 2012, Heart of the Swarm is the most likely to get delayed into 2013.
The company's first quarter 2012 outlook does not incorporate a new release from Blizzard Entertainment, but its calendar year 2012 outlook anticipates two releases from Blizzard Entertainment.
Awesome! Can't wait for D3.

Teknoman 02-09-2012 11:15 PM

Wow totally forgot about the call today!

strafer 02-09-2012 11:15 PM

Thank you based Blizzard.

thetrin 02-09-2012 11:15 PM

Q2 release for Diablo 3? Hell to the yes. Cannot fucking wait.

maniac-kun 02-09-2012 11:16 PM

Why would an addon like Heart of the Swarm take so long to develop? Something about the Blizzard design process is flawed.

-Pyromaniac- 02-09-2012 11:16 PM

Awesome release date for Diablo 3, won't be any university bullshit to distract me (lol).

But I'm serious.

Hot Coldman 02-09-2012 11:16 PM

Morhaime: "Hahahaaha fuck that"

(Yeah, it'll happen. Game needs to release already, for everyone's sake.)

LowParry 02-09-2012 11:16 PM

D3 probably going to drop in June. Blizzard will perfect the shiz out of the game as much as they can till the last minute.

MetatronM 02-09-2012 11:17 PM

"Targeting" Q2 release leaves lots of wiggle room.
Why would an addon like Heart of the Swarm take so long to develop? Something about the Blizzard design process is flawed.
They've basically admitted they have development issues that they're trying to work on in these calls.

davepoobond 02-09-2012 11:18 PM

hm, so Blizzard DOTA is going to be released separately from StarCraft II, then? or is it still going to be a mod?

Tanolen 02-09-2012 11:18 PM

So maybe 3 years for an expansion? God damn it.

Nirolak 02-09-2012 11:18 PM
hm, so Blizzard DOTA is going to be released separately from StarCraft II, then? or is it still going to be a mod?
It wasn't clear in the call, but I haven't been listening perfectly.

It's still going on though.

dummydecoy 02-09-2012 11:19 PM

webcast stopped for me. anyone?

Wolfie5 02-09-2012 11:19 PM

At long last.

EDIT: I mean..

Woohoo!!!

Salz01 02-09-2012 11:19 PM

I just want a release date for D3 for christs sake.... Release windows are dead to me.

zugzug 02-09-2012 11:19 PM

I mean did they just reassign the SC2 team to help other projects why would the expansion take soooo long. Agree with other posts something just not right.

Same with Diablo 3 the redesign on game features announced. Really that long it took you to decide to make them. Really?

Nirolak 02-09-2012 11:19 PM
webcast stopped for me. anyone?
It buffers at random sometimes.
hm, so Blizzard DOTA is going to be released separately from StarCraft II, then? or is it still going to be a mod?
They mentioned free to play so I assume it will be a standalone release?

thetrin 02-09-2012 11:20 PM
About time. It's been what ... 14 years since Diablo ?
Sorry, couldn't help it. Joking aside, can't wait for the game to get released.

Lol, whoops. Was posting in a hurry while working.

Nirolak 02-09-2012 11:21 PM
They mentioned free to play so I assume it will be a standalone release?
Their most recent statement was that it would work in the StarCraft 2: Starter Edition, but that was a long time ago, so it could be its own thing now.

Danielsan 02-09-2012 11:21 PM

Should have bought a new laptop by then so Q2 for Diablo 3 sounds great to me!
So maybe 3 years for an expansion? God damn it.
I think it was always going to be difficult for them to release it 1.5 years later since that would've put it squarely in the neighborhood of D3 and the new WoW xpac.

lordfroakie 02-09-2012 11:22 PM

What is Blizzard DOTA?

pieatorium 02-09-2012 11:23 PM
What is Blizzard DOTA?
Dota clone made by Blizzard

thetrin 02-09-2012 11:23 PM
What is Blizzard DOTA?
It's a DOTA game where each hero is a character from a Blizzard game.

Rookje 02-09-2012 11:24 PM
It's a DOTA game where each hero is a character from a Blizzard game.
Just like DOTA 2

trollface.gif

BrokenEchelon 02-09-2012 11:24 PM

Heart of the Swarm in 2013? Seriously Blizzard? It's going to take them three years to release an expansion, and then what? Another three for Legacy of the Void? StarCraft II won't be "finished" until 2016? Six years after release?

zugzug 02-09-2012 11:24 PM

Blizzard DOTA playable at blizzcon2010 and still not released.............

Dog Problems 02-09-2012 11:25 PM

So with Diablo 3 releasing fairly soon, I wonder if this will push Runic Games to get Torchlight 2 out or will they just be content with releasing it after Diablo 3?

World of Warcraft Loses More Subscribers
According to Activision Blizzard's fourth quarter 2011 earnings report.
February 9, 2012

Activision Blizzard reports that on December 31, 2011, 10.2 million players were subscribed to World of Warcraft. This represents a drop in subscribers from the last report, where Activision Blizzard let investors and press know know World of Warcraft was down to 10.3 million.

PS: Put in the camp that Runic needs to get TL2 out ASAP. Time to kick things into high gear!!

DR3AM 02-09-2012 11:28 PM

Targeting Q2 = 2013

foladar 02-09-2012 11:28 PM

Here's hoping for a May release, rather than June. Can't wait, either way.

Sub revenue is down 10% due to them removing the lost revenue from the Diablo 3 bundle.

Actually subscriber losses though are only down 100,000 this time.

jim-jam bongs 02-09-2012 11:31 PM

Didn't they just take a huge chunk of the game back to the drawing board?

This is shocking, I cannot believe its not plummeting faster. Its more than obvious that the game has peaked already. It feels quite, stale. Kudos to them for sustaining the way they have.

They did just have a new content patch, Brazilian expansion ramping up, and the Diablo 3 deal, so that should help for a bit.

Just was probably a while ago, they only recently annouced the changes they made though.

Ricker 02-09-2012 11:34 PM

It says TARGETED for Q2 for Diablo III..this does not confirm a release date in that period, especially with Blizzard...hopefully it happens though.

Don't worry, I'll be there to make fun of them [strike]if[/strike] when it misses. :P

hyduK 02-09-2012 11:36 PM

Personally would have expected MoP before D3 since WoW is pretty much drained of new content. Not that I'm complaining. Also, people complaining about HotS, Blizzard wasn't gonna release all three games this year. StarCraft is going incredibly strong still, and they don't have to worry about losing people interest before the xpac, so it only makes sense.

Bullza2o 02-09-2012 11:36 PM

Hmm I might pick up D3 if it gets good reception/reviews.

There's really not much competition for it. It'll stay strong until Blizzard releases another MMO.

Svafnir 02-09-2012 11:38 PM

I guess Q2 is soon enough :(

Weenerz 02-09-2012 11:39 PM

Hopefully the 3/19 news is when the annual pass people can start beta testing MoP.

WoW x pacs always hit in the latter part of the year though, nov-jan. There will be a filler raid released mid year to try and tide people over no doubt.

TheExodu5 02-09-2012 11:39 PM

Targeting Q2 for Diablo 3? 2013 release, confirmed.
